Stonehenge is probably the most well-known & iconic stone circle in the world, when we are asked where we live, and say, close to Stonehenge, 99% of people know exactly where it is.
Stonehenge is inexplicably linked to Avebury & its sacred landscape, as together, they form the first UNESCO World Heritage site in the UK.
Many of our ancestors have undoubtably performed many ceremonies in and around this amazing circle of Sarsen and Bluestones, more than likely including weddings & handfastings. The sheer size of the Sarsen stones used to build the Temple is awesome, almost impossible, given the tools our ancestors would have been using 4000 years ago, but when you then look at the lintels, beautifully balance between the uprights, that’s when you realise this is a truly magical Temple, as its also perfectly aligned with the lunar skies.
We are very privileged to live 15 minutes away, therefore able to attend Winter & Summer Solstice each year to enjoy Stonehenge, the way it was intended, as a lunar clock, and see the sunrise perfectly strike the heel stone.
English Heritage have now introduced a booking system for the whole site, therefore both visitors and members of English Heritage/National Trust will need to pre-book to ensure availability.
